Tholons and its Partners are pioneers in Service Globalization and Global Sourcing. Tholons’ leadership broke new ground over a decade ago, by setting up the first Global Services Advisory practice. While offshoring was taking its first steps, we assumed a leadership role in educating the client community regarding the benefits of offshoring. We expanded the vistas beyond just cutting costs to the opportunities and implications for the overall business. Since the initial days, we persevered to bring offshoring of services from division level procurement function to a CXO level strategic instrument.

Over the years, we introduced enduring concepts and structures in the services globalization space – starting from conceptualization of full function offshoring as opposed to individual activities. We enriched the sourcing process by re-engineering the processes being transitioned for leveraging superior delivery capabilities to enhance operational efficiencies and effectiveness. In a Global Services world, where a handful of large broad based vendors used to be the default pick, we were able to successfully uncover nimble Tier 2 service providers with superior capabilities and solutions to the benefit of our clients. We pioneered the idea of breaking up large outsourcing contracts into “multi-vendor models” based on “best of breed” capabilities, and designed effective governance structures to derive the best value for the clients.

Through the rapid evolution of Services Globalization, we have been at the forefront identifying future directions and setting trends. While the Offshore markets were witnessing exceptional growth, we foresaw the need to spread delivery into Tier 2 countries and cities, and set about indexing the location capabilities first at the country level, and soon thereafter at the city level. As always, we never rest on our laurels – right now we are engaged with a number of Governments and Trade bodies in developing new destinations for global services delivery. We are creating a Global Skills Map to catalyze expansion into regions based not just on the macro business environment, but also on specific processes mapped to precise pools of talent.
